Hello. I’m Steve Cooper. I’m a sound engineer, mixer and producer.

Recording & Mixing

From my studio in East London – and in studios across Europe (Berlin, Hamburg, Brussels, Denmark) – I record and mix music for many of the world’s best-known artists; from Elton John to Portishead, Oasis to Muse, Jocelyn Brown to Jim Mullen.

I work with all consoles (Neve, SSL, API, Harrison, Amek, etc.), recording onto analogue tape, Protools and Logic Pro.

Most of what I do involves (online) mixing or recording / producing audio, but – because I have a strong industry network, and a reputation for high-quality work – my clients often ask me to find the right composers, musicians, and artists for their projects, and to suggest and source pre-exisiting music for film, ads and TV.

I oversee every Radiotone project myself – I love what I do; and I tend to do most of the work! – but I also collaborate with some of the finest engineers, programmers and editors working today.

Consulting

With nearly two decades in the business, I am often asked by artists and music industry professionals to give advice. For many of them, I provide ongoing consulting services – for everything from label services and management to legal and copyright issues.

Making Music on a Budget

I love working in iconic world class studios like RAK, Abbey Road, and British Grove – and I can arrange for us to work in any studio you like – but I have also worked in very sparsely equipped rehearsal rooms on records that go on to receive critical acclaim and daytime airplay on BBC Radio 1 and 2.

Modern technology and a competitive studio market mean that great records really can be made on a budget… if you know what you’re doing. Some of my recent work – mixing online; by email, Skype, etc. – includes critically-acclaimed projects for artists in the U.S., Portugal, Belgium, and around the UK.

So wherever you are… let’s make music. I look forward to hearing from you.

Steve
